EASY ORIGAMI BUTTERFLY STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

This easy-to-make origami butterfly project lets kids create a colorful paper airplane as they learn about the migration of monarch butterflies. The origami blueprint (download below) includes simple visual instructions that make it easy for children to follow along. Simply download and print the PDF (double-sided), follow the step-by-step instructions below, and let it fly!
BUTTERFLY ORIGAMI STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Follow along with the instructions to create your origami butterfly glider.
STEP 1
On the bottom of Side 1, cut along the black dashed line following the outside the butterfly’s wings, and discard.

STEP 2
Crease the page in half on the red dotted line in the center.

STEP 3
Following the picture shown, fold in the top corners to where the two red lines meet in the middle.

STEP 4
Fold the peak down along the red line that runs left to right. The black illustration should match up!

STEP 5
Fold down the top two corners so the orange, black, and white markings match up.

STEP 6
Fold the top edge down so the black illustration lines up.

Step 7
Fold the butterfly in half along the red line as shown.

STEP 8
Crease the wings down following the remaining red, dotted lines.

STEP 9
Finally, gently unfold the creases you just made so the wings are outstretched and just slightly bent.
